Lorraine Lipson, LPC
Our early interactions act as a template for our relationships throughout life. I seek to help you overcome difficulties in your relationships by helping you understand the repetitive and negative cycles of interactions that may be present in your past and current relationships, as a single person, spouse, parent, child, sibling or co-worker. Long-established, unwanted and negative kinds of interactions can cause pain, and may be also hard to break free of. As we develop a new awareness, my clients grown in their ability not only to repair their existing relationships, but also to enter and maintain new relationships in a different way, including the fundamental way in which they relate to themselves.
Sometimes, in a relationship, there can seem to be no way forward. At this point, negotiating a divorce or ending of a relationship may seem to be the only solution. I provide support for my clients through this difficult process, with the hope that the ending, difficult as it can be, may lead to new insights and growth.
The relationship between parent and child can be an enormous source of love and pride, but can also present challenges born from many reasons. One of the most painful can be when a new mom suffers from post-natal (postpartum) depression, and cannot fully enjoy her new baby, or be the mom she wants to be. I work with a new mom and her baby, to support the difficulties she is encountering and to work towards facilitating the relationship between them that they both need and desire.
I also work with the mood disorders and anxieties that so often accompany the stresses involved in the process of relating.
