Maria Droste Counseling Center is pleased to announce that the board of directors elected Demetrius “D” Parker as the new board chair. Parker, who is the Training & Organizational Development Program Manager for the City and County of Broomfield, will serve for a two-year term effective August, 2021.
Maria Droste Counseling Center provides affordable counseling for adults, children and families in need; helping them overcome obstacles such as poverty, emotional trauma, illness and depression regardless of their ability to pay. Demetrius Parker, who has been on the Maria Droste board since 2019, is now leading the 17-person volunteer board of directors as they spearhead the organization in providing the Colorado community with life-saving mental health resources.
D Parker states:
I am thrilled to be a part of the important work that Maria Droste does in the community. Particularly with the pandemic environment that we are living with now, access to quality mental health resources has become paramount to everyone.
Mars Holsopple, Chief Development Officer of Maria Droste, said of Parker that “he excels in his relationships in the community and is a team player within the organization. We are extremely lucky to have him leading the board!”
Demetrius Parker better known as “D” has been working in the human resources/recruiting and Organizational Development field since 2003. He is also an eight-year veteran of the United States Army where he was an Escort to the President, Communications Chief and Events Liaison to the USO. “D” considers himself to be an internal entrepreneur or/and intrapreneur as some have now coined, that successfully infuses his diverse, dynamic, and humanistic, goal-oriented approach to Business management by getting it done with an emphasis on positivity and professionalism. He strives to build sustainable and successful partnerships and business relationships within his professional and volunteer lives.
D also said: “My personal life philosophy is: ’Dream Big, Live Large, Stay Humble & Kind.’ I honestly feel this is much harder to do if you’re not in the right mindset and your mental health is an important part of that equation.” Maria Droste and Demetrius are a perfect fit to continue doing great work in the community.
