Announcing the Addition of 4 New Board Members: Claudia Crosse-Wynn, Shannon Groves, Patrice Hawkins, and Michelle Wiley

Maria Droste Counseling Center is excited to introduce the new Board Members joining our Board of Directors. Learn more about each of them and breadth of skills and experience they bring to MDCC. We are grateful to have these new Board Members as a part of our community to help further our mission.
Claudia Crosse-Wynn
Claudia Crosse-Wynn is a Behavioral Health Counselor with All Health Network who provides individual, crisis, and group counseling to a variety of populations, including the underserved and homeless.
She is a former Maria Droste Counselor, who was part of The Therapist Group for 3 years. This experience lends itself to detailed knowledge of the organization’s needs as she joins our Board Members.
She received her PhD in clinical psychology from Walden University, and also holds an LPC and CAC II. Throughout her career, Claudia has served clients of all backgrounds, with the belief that everyone deserves access to counseling.
Shannon Groves
Shannon Groves is the Government Relations Director for Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO). In this role, she is responsible for the organization’s state-level legislative affairs. KPCO is the state’s largest nonprofit health plan. It is comprised of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Colorado and the Colorado Permanente Medical Group—one of the state’s largest medical groups with more than 1,200 physicians. Shannon relocated to Denver from Albuquerque, New Mexico two years ago. With her, she brought nine years of health policy and political experience.
Prior to joining KPCO, she served as the Government Relations Manager and Senior Health Policy Analyst for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico, the largest health insurer in the state.
Shannon began her career in healthcare at Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS), the largest not-for-profit healthcare company in New Mexico. PHS is an integrated delivery system comprised of 8 hospitals, 700 physicians and a health plan. She started as an intern for the President and CEO of the company. When the Affordable Care Act became law, she transitioned into public policy .
Shannon has served on a variety of boards of directors for non-profit organizations. These include the Road Runner Food Bank, Health Leadership High School and the Center for School Leadership.
In 2007, Shannon received a B.S. in biology from New Mexico State University. She went on to receive a Master’s in Business Administration from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico in 2014.
Patrice Hawkins
Dedicating her career to public service, Patrice Hawkins serves as the Deputy Executive Director of Community Impact and Strategic Planning with Denver Human Services. Patrice holds a Masters in Social Work from New York University, where she specialized in policy, advocacy, and juvenile justice.
Patrice’s work has always been rooted in community, social justice, and focusing on the human experience. This work has ranged from serving as an AmeriCorps with the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation in the Sun Valley Community, to working with Good Shepherd Services in New York City assessing youth programs. It has also included leading community outreach teams at Denver Human Services to further trauma informed customer service.
Michelle Wiley
Michelle Wiley invests both her heart and mind in her work. She brings 16 years leadership experience in mental health and not-for-profits, specializing in organizational effectiveness, strategy, and business sustainability.
Michelle connects strongly to the mission at MDCC in promoting mental health and well being in our Denver community. She is additionally committed to the goal of ensuring that services are accessible.
Michelle is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado and is excited to join the MDCC board. She is delighted to support their efforts, especially during a time in our world when community resources such as MDCC are needed more than ever.
