"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." I believe that we cannot truly change without understanding our past and how it impacts our present. I help my clients explore their early experiences, first attachments, environments they were born into, and generational trauma in order to help them understand the patterns they've developed in order to adapt. Those once adaptive patterns, oftentimes become maladaptive later on in life and can be hard to change. I assist my clients in their process of change through guided exploration, drawing links between the past and the present, gently challenging the patterns that no longer serve them and helping them develop new ways of interacting with the world. This important and hard work happens in the context of a safe and trusting relationship that I strive to create with all my clients.
I work with women of all ages, backgrounds and stages in life. I use a culturally sensitive lens, making sure I understand the layers and interactions between client's different cultural identities. Some of the areas I help my clients with include processing through early traumas, identifying goals in therapy and in life, improving relationships and overall sense of connection, building healthy boundaries, decreasing symptoms of depression and anxiety, transitioning to parenthood, and practicing self-compassion.
